In regards to the Rossi 38 special recall just wanted to pass on what I have found out.I had a one the 38 specials that was subject to the recall, received all the information to return the gun to Taurus and it stated that gun inspection and or repair take approximately 12 weeks for the gun to be returned. Well its been 12 weeks and no word so I contacted them to find out that none of the guns.

I was going to buy a TX22 next week until I read this thread. Since I own four Taurus pistols, I am aware of some of their problems. Although, my experience with their customer service has been positive. Well...…….. just for giggles and grins, I checked one of the barrels of my PT111's. WAS I surprised!! The bore looked just about PERFECT! The only imperfections were some very slight scratches from the bore brush. Looking at the TX22 bore pictures, gives me second thoughts about buying one. For sure, I will check the barrel before buying; but, there is absolutely no excuse for selling these crappy barrels.
So is this barrel problem over a particular serial number range or random? MY SWAG is it the norm, but most owners have not yet discovered the problem. I found a local dealer that has a TX22 so that will save me FFL shipping. Before I buy any TX22, I will inspect the barrel. I wonder if the new 'In Spec' barrels are in all pistols after a certain serial number? :???: I hate to buy a new pistol only to find I need to send it in for repair. :icon_ nono2: The $50 rebate ends 9/30/2019, so I may wait a while to see if I can get a newer serial number pistol. I own a Ruger SR-22 which only has a 10 round magazine. I really like the 16 round magazines for the TX22 which is what piqued my interest in another Taurus pistol. Don't need it, just want it.
